The Stay at Home Mom, Laundry and Fun with Words

December 11, 2014 By beautiful mama. Leave a Comment

laundry pile

If it weren’t for the enormous amount of laundry we do in this house I’m not sure what I would spend my time doing. It consumes my every waking thought, especially when its growth reaches epic proportions. The laundry in the photo above was particularly gorgeous but not nearly as massive a pile as it could have been by the weekend. And a lucky pile it was. It got folded and put into the basket rather than sit in a heap on the sofa. It sat so long in fact that it formed a lovely sort of shape don’t you think? I almost don’t want to disturb it.

I almost don’t want to disturb it.

Sometimes I sit next to a growing pile of socks and clothes that are getting smaller by the minute for our son OLM and watch TV. Sometimes I think, what’s the point?By the time this laundry gets put away the boy will have grown out of his jeans. But ignoring it often brings me an odd sense of bliss too. By the time this laundry gets put away the boy will have grown out of his jeans. But ignoring it often brings me an odd sense of bliss too. I curl up beside, imagining a game of hide and don’t find mom when all I hear is ‘mum, mom, mum mum, mum MOM!’

Sadly, eventually, it requires being put in its proper place, (on the floor in the bedroom) as I know we’ll be right back where we started the next week. Sigh..

Rather than risk boring you with this nonsensical diatribe, I thought I’d play a game instead. A sort of homage to the pile, really.

Word Association Game

Word association game are helpful to discover what we are really thinking. And they are fun! Do you want to try one with me?

Ok first of all, get yourself some pen and paper.

Then look into the laundry pile, revel in its perfect shape and the feelings it stirs inside you and then write down the first three words that pop into your head. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

Ok. Here’s mine.

1. pile

2. dog sh*t

3. jail
