Annoying Things People Do

October 5, 2014 By beautiful mama. Leave a Comment

This post was taken from the archives and published again today because I think it shows to me, how far I’ve come in the ‘getting annoyed easily category.’ There are so many bigger fish to fry. (Like a certain Premier and her crap ways of dealing with our education system that I won’t get into here.) Okay. I guess I haven’t gotten too far yet cause now I’m getting annoyed!)

Anyway, here it is. Can you relate?

Ok I admit, I get annoyed. Easily. I never used to be this way but I am getting to the point in my life where I am reluctant to waste time repeating things. Life is too short to listen to the same crap or repeat the same mistakes. And it’s even more annoying when other people do it when I’m around them.

In an attempt to tamp down my tendency to get all twisted up and anal I thought I would share this with you. My hope is that I could let it go and be all zen-like again.

Man, I really need to get back to yoga.

Annoying Things People Do

Point #1  Stating the Obvious

Example: A person who will remain nameless holds up the empty milk jug sink and mumbles something. He won’t agree with me, but he’s a mumbler.

Anyway, I ask, ‘What did you say?’ Then he mimes something ridiculous that I am supposed to get.

When I ask for clarification because I want to be sure I understand, he says ‘We’re out of milk?’ Note the question mark.

Seriously? Check the fridge. If you don’t see any more in there, chances are you are right.

Point #2  Retelling Stories

I don’t know why but I have an annoying habit of remembering stories that people tell me, most of the time. The problem is, I don’t get the same in return from some. The worst is when I hear a story that is told exactly the same way. I’m not saying I have an audiographic memory if there is such a thing, but what I’m saying is if you want to retell a story, change it up.

I most often say, ‘Yeah you told me that already.‘ It annoys me that I say this so often. But it annoys me more when people don’t realize that they retell the same stories.

Now, I suppose that some people have jobs which require them to repeat instructions over and over, so much so that it becomes ingrained in them. But listen here. When you’re talking, look me in the eye, remember my face, the situation and just don’t do it again!

This annoyance also contradicts point #1. If you want to tell me a story twice, how about miming it the second time? It would be much more fun. That is if you remember.

Do you have some funny, annoying stories to share?  I’d love to hear them.  See you in the comments!
