Favourite Things Holiday Gift Guide: Real Books
When I was a kid I thought getting books for Christmas was the worst present ever. Now that I’m a bit older, *cough* I love the thought of opening up a new real book that someone took the time to pick out as a gift. Don’t you? I’m not sure what I’ll put on my list but I’m enjoying fiction lately so…
Ah!! I’m going to ask for the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy….(not a chance!)
Anyway….
In Monday’s post I mentioned that reading at night helps me relax and get a better night’s sleep. reading a real book just feels good too. I love the smell of a real book, the feel of the pages in my hand, the anticipation of turning them. Kids these days don’t know what they’re missing. And reading an honest to goodness real novel prevents me from looking at my mobile in bed which is a bad habit I’ve finally broken.
Currently I’m engrossed in Whitethorn Woods by Maeve Bincy. It’s an easy read, full of quirky characters, and a few pages is all that’s needed to feel satisfied AND sleepy. And no, it’s definitely not boring. A friend suggested the The Book Thief, by Markus Zuzak so that’s on the list for the near future as I won’t get my hands on it in time. so I’m going to read another Bincy book, Heart and Soul. Have you read it?
Why am I telling you this?
For one thing it’s nice to keep track of the books I’ve read in one handy place. But rather than make a list which will surely get misplaced I created a virtual one. Now I know that means you can get also purchase e-books but I encourage you to get the real thing. It’s just not the same otherwise.
Here’s the lists of books I’ve been compiling over on Amazon. Let me know what you think.
What are you reading these days? Anything you’d recommend?
