Feel the #WinterLust and explore Alberta at Spring Break

I’m not much of a winter sports enthusiast but I love the crisp and cold snowy weather of winter. I love bundling up and heading to the hills even if it’s only to enjoy the scenery and have a snowball fight. I used to downhill ski in my younger days but that ended when my little sis fell off the chairlift and I decided I wasn’t coordinated enough to keep myself safe either. She’s ok not to worry.

After that I leaned towards cross-country skiing and snowshoeing which I think is a really great way to slow down and take in the scenery and to avoid breaking bones. I do love to watch other people ski though, their bravery freaks me out but it is amazing to watch. Most of all, I rather enjoy apres ski activities that include hot tubs, a warm fire and a cold beer but I haven’t done any of this since becoming a mom. And it’s a sad state of affairs let me tell you. Time to change that, right?

My son is nearly five years old and I feel like he’s got his feet under him a bit more, (he’s a tad clumsy, like his mama) so I’d love to take him out into the snow if winter would ever find its way to our fair city of Vancouver, BC. Mind you, we could actually take him somewhere this Spring Break where the snow is almost guaranteed to be pristine and powdery. Somewhere beautiful, tax-free and with cheap gas. Know what I’m saying? Road trip!

Explore Alberta at Spring Break

I love the drive up and through Banff although I’ve never done it in winter. This might be a pipe dream right now but if we go we’d rent an SUV and pack up our warm clothes, some food and water and hit the road! The Busy Bag Swap I participated in will come in handy to give our little man something to keep his hands busy for the drive. Yummy snacks and plenty of pit stops along the way will be needed but it’ll be fun. Who’s with me? Check out these cool travel packages HERE.

Have you been to Alberta lately?

Welcome to my backyard – there is so many things to explore in Alberta and I’ve been living here for over 5 years now and haven’t seen it all yet.

Stop by if you’re near Hinton 🙂
