Are you going to a holiday party? Are you looking for hot makeup tips to push the boat out? Or maybe you just want to try something different without looking made up. The following holiday makeup tips are just what you need to bring more style and sass to your outfit.
1. Add drama to the eyes OR lips
When choosing a makeup look for the holidays, opt to either play up your gorgeous eyes or plump up your pout, not both. If you’re looking and feeling tired like most moms of small children, less fuss is definitely better so I’ll keep it simple for you.
You can still get a dramatic look if you match your colour as you can see. Choose a lovely baby pink for both eyes and lips and get this striking look without looking overdone. Just put the focus back on the eyes by lining them with black or navy and then it’s time for lashes!
2. Play up the lashes
Long, luscious lashes is where it’s at, no matter what. For an evening party black is your colour of choice for its dramatic effect. Apply a coat or two of your favourite fibre mascara on top of your regular mascara and you’re good to go.
A subtle grey on darker skin looks dazzling, don’t you think? Paired with a neutral lip it’s a snap to keep your look fresh into the wee hours.
3. Transition from daytime to evening
This is a lovely daytime look that can easily be transformed for evening. Add gloss over the lip colour OR a bit of Playful sparkle on the lids and a shimmer to the inner corners and her eyes will sparkle!

4. Use the right tools
Having a quality set of makeup brushes is essential for the precise application of eye shadows, blush, highlighting pigment concealers and foundations. And if you keep your brushes clean by washing them regularly with a non-pearlized shampoo they will last a lifetime.
5. Set your makeup
After you’ve applied your highlighting pigment concealers and foundation, whether powder, creamy or BB Cream for a light coverage, you’ll want to set the makeup and diminish the matte look. A dewy skin glows without it looking oily. Spritz a product designed exactly for this all over your face.
6. Focus on the lips
Red lips are very glamorous for this holiday season but it can be difficult to maintain your pucker, especially as the night wears on. Try these tips for longer lasting coverage and remember, if you go for red, choose softer colours for the eyes to bring the focus on the lips.
Apply a lip stain to clean lips, blotting excess onto a tissue. Follow with a matching lip liner to keep the shape of your lips even and precise and then apply a lip gloss the same shade or slightly lighter. You can also opt to skip the lip stain and just use liner, filling in the entire lip area. Blot and then cover with your favourite lip gloss.
Or if you want to keep it really simple, apply a lip conditioner to your lips first. Blot and then apply lipstick, which is the colour featured in the photo above. Sexy, right?
