I’ve just finished updating my LinkedIn profile as it was sorely out of date.

I’ve never paid that much attention to it because I haven’t been looking for work, as in real work, but those days are over. I need to find a job to earn some money and to rid myself of this terrible feeling of isolation I’ve been dealing with. It’s worse now than when OLM was a baby.

And well, a lot of sh*t has happened lately that has made me think that it’s time to shake things up and meet some people who value me as a person, who get to know the real me and who see beyond my imperfections.

Seriously, I am not a bad parent. I don’t beat my kid and I certainly don’t EVER call him names. And I would never, EVER, think about putting a lock on his door so he can’t get out of his room at night. I don’t hover or fight his battles for him on the playground because it’s not healthy for him, or me. But that is a story for another day.

Ok so now that is off my chest. I feel just a little bit lighter.

Looking for Work

I’m not sure if tweaking my LinkedIn profile will help my cause to find meaningful, paid work but hey, all the cool kids are doing it so I’d best get on it.

I work hard, value play and flexibility, do you?

First and foremost, I would love the opportunity to shine by working with a partner or company whose values match my own. I know that if we are the right fit, we will work well in a partnership that values hard work, play and flexibility.

I am and have been a professional, hard-working, determined and loyal person to work with. And I have a deep desire to learn something new everyday.

I value the unknown as it is an opportunity to grow and be the person I need to be for this world.

I am currently studying web development, including html5, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, and WordPress. Website development is the perfect fit as it requires an intense desire to problem solve, look for solutions and be creative in how to find those answers.

I am excited to get started work in this industry, to develop my skills each day and to continue building my knowledge base.

I am also keen to utilize my five plus years of experience as website content curator at MomParadigm.com and my skills in web development for project-based work or on a part-time basis. This will allow for flexibility in my life as an involved parent.

If you’re a parent you know the intense pull coming from all directions when you’re navigating work, parenthood and your own crazy life. How can we do it all and enjoy the time we have on this earth? We can. Just not all the time. Because being a parent matters so much.

The growth that comes from being a parent and in shaping our future generation cannot be understated. It is an incredibly valuable skill set to have. It makes people like me awesome employees and contractors because we get how hard it is to work for what you most want.

The tech industry offers possibilities that others cannot. The flexibility to work from home and be available for what matters, whether it’s school pick up or after school sports programs, or working on a project after he’s gone to bed is one of the reasons I am excited to be part of it.

I hope you feel the same. Because my heart is with this little man’s future and I want to rock a career that honours this.

I know that what I’m saying isn’t conventional. In the past and in order to be taken seriously we were told we mustn’t talk about family obligations or life outside of work lest we blow our chances at our dream job.

I’d like to believe that it’s changed now, but sadly this ‘old school’ way of thinking still exists for the most part. I don’t pretend that I can change it, but I just want you to know where I’m coming from.

In a nutshell, I want to work with you if you like what you’ve read. I will work hard, be diligent and stick to deadlines.

When we’re not working together and I’m not raising this amazing little person I will continue developing content that readers look forward to by inviting more writers and brands to get involved at momparadigm.com.
