I’ve been nominated Top 30 Mom Blogger over at VancouverMom.ca and I’m more than excited. This is a big deal for those who were nominated as it means that we will be awash in media attention and no doubt there’ll be a few autographs to sign.
That may be a tad bit of an exaggeration, but nonetheless, very exciting! That in itself is awesome, but what would be even more awesome is to win the top spot as there is some amazing swag for the winner and frankly,

I’m Askin’. No, I’m a Beggin’!
The time has come to finally put myself out there to get the word out about what I’m doing here on this lonely blog. Rather than sit back and let it happen, cause that shite never works, I’ve decided to really get out there and ask for your vote.
I don’t get paid, yet, to write here on Mom Paradigm, so really I am my one and only and I’m a volunteer. And, apart from raising funds and expensing a campaign paid by taxpayers like you, I thought I would simply write about it here. I don’t need ya’ll comin’ down on me for spending your hard-earned cash on efforts that only serve me.
Oh wait. I’m not doing that, I’m an honest gal! Phew! I must a been dreaming about the last election in this province. Anyway, I digress….
One Thing You Might Not Know About Me…
One thing you might not know about me is I don’t like to talk about myself. That might not be apparent considering that on Mom Paradigm I talk a lot about yours truly. But that hasn’t always been the case.
I’ve been in soooo many relationships where the focus was on the other person. I’ve been in relationships in which I didn’t speak up for myself. I didn’t protect myself and I certainly didn’t stand up for myself.
As a result, I was often drawn to controlling and/or self-centred a-holes. This never goes well. It would be no surprise to say that these kind of relationships end in abuse and sometimes much, much worse.
I’m Still Here
Thankfully, I am still here. It’s not always easy though because the past comes back to haunt. The whole reason I started this blog was to provide myself an outlet for the pain that has ruled my life, and to tap into the absolute joy I have discovered by becoming a parent to an amazingly lovely little boy. He has taught me so much and I want to share it. And so I blog.
My hope is that this blog can help you or someone you know get to the heart of what matters. I hope it helps to know that you are not alone and that you can own your pain and your joy.
If what I write here helps one person it would be worth it.
I want my stories to get out there to as many people as possible. If I could change one thing in the world, it would be to erase pain and abuse from every woman’s memory. But then again, I wouldn’t be who I am if it weren’t for my experiences.
Voting opens today, May 27th and ends June 10th 2013. You can vote for up to three bloggers at a time and you can do the same next week.
