Hey all! How’s things? How’s the summer looking for you? Busy? Relaxed? It’s been both over here in the homestead what with the end of the school year and working on my new-ish now web design and dev biz.
Thankfully, OLM has been spending his days in a mountain adventure summer camp for the first week so I’ve been able to get a few things done which is good because next weekend is all about relaxing, napping, good food and music.

July 2017 Festival Wind up
Seriously, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival is the one event of the year I look forward to most. Dare I say, even more than Christmas? Yup, you heard it here first. There is much joy to be found for everyone at this festival by the sea.
Wait a Minute…
Hmmm…maybe not. The plethora of food and drink choices, the Little Folks Village, the overall spectacular view while listening to a variety of music styles, (folk music isn’t what it used to be…the Bare Naked Ladies and The Revivalists are just two of the bands we saw in previous years at the festival) the free water stations and the impeccable cleanliness of the festival grounds…are all close seconds. There is just so much I love about my experience at this event.
Walking Barefoot is Best at the Folk Fest
Anytime the family is outside and can roam shoe-free is a good day. I like clean feet like most of you but there is something about walking barefoot the grounds of the Folk Fest that doesn’t worry me at all. It’s one of the cleanest outdoor venues we’ve been to so we don’t stress about stepping on anything nefarious. I guess I’m more hippy than I thought.
Ah #festivalfeet ... how I love you! Experience the freedom. Tickets for the@VanFolkFest are available now. #VFMF2018 Share on XIskwé is the Artist to Watch
The artist I’m most interested in at the moment is Iskwé, a Winnipeg-born woman who will be tackling the weighty truths of Canada’s colonial past and more. Influenced by Bjork, David Bowie and Erykah Badu, IsKwé explores cross-cultural teachings and political ideology to discover “where self fits into community.” She’s been nominated for the 2018 Juno Indigenous Music Album of the Year award for The Fight Within.
